Crystal Oscillator
Crystal oscillator (OSC) is a complete clock signal generator. It integrates quartz crystal resonators, oscillation circuits, amplification circuits, and voltage stabilization circuits internally. With external power supply, it can directly output stable standard clock signals (usually square waves).


Features:
1. Plug and play, simple circuit
    Internally equipped with oscillation driving circuit, no external matching capacitor is required, and stable clock output can be achieved by connecting power and ground, greatly simplifying PCB design.
2. High precision and high stability
   The frequency accuracy can reach ± 0.1ppm~± 20ppm, with small temperature drift and much better signal quality than passive crystal oscillators.
3. Stable output and strong driving capability
    Output standard level, regular waveform (square wave), strong anti-interference ability, can directly drive multiple chips or long-distance transmission.
4. Fast start-up and high reliability
    It starts vibrating when powered on and is not easy to stop, suitable for industrial control, communication and other scenarios that require high stability.
5. Shortcoming
    The cost is relatively high (2-5 times more expensive than passive crystal oscillators).
    Relatively high power consumption (requiring maintenance of internal circuits).
    Fixed level, less flexible than passive crystal oscillators.

Applications:
1. Communication equipment: 5G/4G base stations, routers, switches, optical modules (providing high-precision transmitting and receiving clocks).
2. Computers and high-speed digital systems: CPU, FPGA, PCIe, USB 3.0/4.0, SATA interface.
3. Consumer electronics: smartphones, tablets, GPS navigation (TCXO temperature compensated crystal oscillator).
4. Industrial control: PLC, servo drives, measuring instruments, medical equipment.
5. Automotive electronics: ADAS, in car gateway, autonomous driving sensors.
6. Aerospace: Satellite and missile guidance systems (OCXO constant temperature crystal oscillator).
